Ebony Tower is a little British jewel that will please fans of classic rock and prog rock. The four track CD, Dead Planets New Stars, opens with the song White Rabbit. With delicate played Violin and piano and classic guitar the first minute we are dragged into a classic prog rock oriented song. I like the sound on this recording that remind of a lot of the recordings from the 70`s, but of course with the high standard in sound today. Singer Rebecca Everitt has the exact voice for this kind of music and the rocking guitars, the floating violin and the tight and steady rhythm will please fans of classic rock and prog rock. The melodic lines is entertaining and the chorus parts is addictive. The song ends as it started with violin, piano and classic guitar. Ebony Tower is the next song, a song with a more symphonic progressive style. The calm verses with the vocals and the fine instrumentation is really entertaining. The song builds up for the nice chorus parts with a tougher style. I like the instrumental part and especially the violin sounds beautiful. Celebrity Squares is the next song, a special song with nice guitars a fine melodic line and strong choruses. A song hard to define the style of, but with roots from classic rock, but I also feel some traction to some of the rock musicals from 70`s and 80`s. The last song Looking Glass War is my absolute favorite, a more classic rock oriented styled song. It open with a classic drum rhythm before the band and vocals enter the song. I have heard this over and over again, and the fine verses lead the way to some cool choruses. I also like the instrumental performing that give the song the exact right sound and style that take me back to many big moment from the 70`s. The lyrical direction is also worth mentioning and interesting to read and follow through the songs, and especially the song White Rabbit is a song about environmental meltdown, who absolutely is an actual theme today. I look forward to hear the finished debut and to follow this band further who I believe has a bright future in front of them! 97/100 http://www.myspace.com/ebonytowerrocks http://www.ebonytowerrocks.com/
